Von einer MacGyver-Lösung zum echten Plugin: Die Geschichte des Nettix Importer

About three years ago, a local used car dealer asked me a simple question: could his cars from Nettiauto also be on his own website? Not as a link to the marketplace, but properly, in his own design, nicer than the marketplace page. And ideally they would show up on his Facebook and Instagram too.

The MacGyver version

I built it with what was at hand: a custom PHP script that fetched his listings, plus a couple of off-the-shelf tools to sync them into WordPress and post them to social media. Duct tape and paper clips, honestly. But it worked, and it kept working, quietly, for years.

Then the dealer went through a really hard time, the kind no small business owner should ever have to. I couldn’t fix that. But I could give him one thing less to worry about: a proper, solid version of the tool he relied on every day, instead of three pieces held together with tape.

That’s how Nettix Importeur was born: one WordPress plugin that does the whole job by itself.

What it does

  • Your NettiAuto, NettiMoto and NettiVene listings on your own site, each with its own page, photo gallery and specifications.
  • Always up to date. New vehicles appear twice a day on their own, and sold ones disappear, photos included.
  • Your look, not the marketplace’s. A light or a dark theme, your brand colour, category tabs for cars, bikes and boats.
  • A contact form on every vehicle, so enquiries come straight to you.
  • Show vehicles anywhere on your site with a block or a shortcode, for example the latest arrivals on your front page.
  • In Finnish and Swedish, as well as English.

Why your own showroom matters

On a marketplace, your car sits right next to your competitors’ cars. On your own site, it’s just you. That makes the biggest difference when you run your own Facebook and Instagram campaigns: the ad sends buyers to your showroom, where the next car they look at is also yours.

Preis

Nettix Importer costs 149 € a year (+ VAT). Setting it up yourself is easy; if you’d rather we do it, our setup service is 85 € (+ VAT).

The plugin uses your own Nettix dealer account. API access is ordered from and billed by Alma Mobility (currently 50 € + VAT per month per marketplace) and is not included in the plugin price.

I’m thankful to that local dealer for asking the question that started it all.
