QRuunu: QR codes on your own domain, with your own data

QRuunu Pro banner and logo

Most QR code tools rent you something you should own. The code points at their short-link domain, the scan data sits on their servers, and if you stop paying the monthly fee, the codes you already printed stop working.

We built QRuunu to do it the other way round: QR codes and short links that live on your WordPress site, under your domain, with the scan data in your database. The name comes from the Finnish word kruunu, “crown”. The QRs are your own.

QRuunu: a genuinely free QR generator

QRuunu is free on WordPress.org. No account, no license key, no locked features:

  • URLs, text, phone, SMS, email, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi credentials and vCard contact cards
  • Dot and corner shapes, solid or gradient colours, logo upload, transparent background
  • Reusable style presets, including a “Site brand” preset that picks up your theme’s own colours
  • PNG and SVG export, saved straight to your Media Library

QRuunu Pro: tracked links on your own domain

QRuunu Pro installs alongside the free generator and turns a QR code into a tracked short link like yoursite.com/r/spring-flyer:

  • Change the destination after printing. The code points at the short link, not the final page, so a finished campaign never means reprinting.
  • Scan analytics in your own dashboard: timeline, top links, devices, countries, unique visitors. Nothing is sent to a third party.
  • Rules: password protection, country and device targeting, expiry dates.
  • Matomo, GA4 and Plausible add-ons that record scans server-side, so ad blockers don’t drop them.
  • Codes keep working. If you ever stop the subscription, every link you already printed keeps redirecting. You just can’t create new ones.

QRuunu Pro costs €99 a year per site (+ VAT). Comparable hosted QR services typically charge from a few to a few hundred dollars a month, and keep your data.
